By some estimates, there are more than 500 million blogs on the internet’s 1.7 billion websites.

But architects, this one’s for you.

Welcome to Specifythe official blog by A&I Manufacturing – the last independent fabricator of custom window treatments in the Pacific Northwest.

Specify is a byproduct of A&I’s commitment to nurturing meaningful professional relationships with architectural practitioners. This commitment is seen in the complete redesign of our website, which is structured for knowledge sharing, and easy access to valuable technical information.

“As we listened to many architectural professionals over the years, it became clear to us that our offerings needed to include more than sales information,” said David Keegan, Commercial Specification Manager for A&I. “We needed to offer them digital support that addressed potential pain points in the specification process.”

As a result, a forthcoming feature of this website will include a “For Architects” section with tools, resources, and technical information.

“We want to give architects something they can sink their teeth into when it comes to the window covering world,” said Alex Ashley, Director of Marketing for A&I. “If this new website is the ‘meal,’ then our new Specify blog is the conversation over dinner; a way for us to keep the conversation going with architects and build our relationship with them as something more than a building products manufacturer.”

“If this new website is the ‘meal,’ then our new Specify blog is the conversation over dinner…”

In architecture’s relationship-driven market, it’s little surprise that, according to a survey of 330 architects by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), most know which materials manufacturer they are going to use as much as 60 percent of the time. More than seven in 10 architects go with suppliers with whom they have an existing relationship.

As a visionary, you understand the value of known commodities to a spec that is accurate, instructive, and specific; one that conveys your vision and design intent. This is true when it comes to window treatments, which determine how natural light will interact with your building’s interior, directly impacting the aesthetic, atmosphere, and quality of life for its occupants.

That is where A&I stands poised to become a source of trusted advice. Through the voice of Specify, we hope to convey the message that we are more than just a manufacturer of custom window treatments; we are storytellers, educators, and purveyors of inspiration.
